1. SRGN Clinic Cosmetic Surgery Revision Terms & Conditions
This Policy and Terms and Conditions (“Policy”) applies to the supply of services by SRGN Clinic for all cosmetic surgery procedures performed at our facilities. In the event of any inconsistency between this Policy and the contents of any other documentation provided by SRGN Clinic to the Patient, this Policy shall prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.
2. Definitions and Expectations
For the purposes of this Policy:
- “Clinic” means SRGN Clinic.
- “Surgeon” means the qualified medical professional performing the Procedure.
- “Procedure” means the cosmetic surgery procedure initially performed.
- “Patient” means the individual receiving the Procedure.
- “Revision Surgery” means any additional surgery intended to address or improve the outcome of the original Procedure.
The Surgeons to whom the Clinic refers Patients for cosmetic surgery strive to provide Patients with the best possible outcome from their Procedure. In rare cases, a Patient may consider that the outcome of their Procedure does not meet the expected result agreed between the Surgeon and the Patient during the initial consultation.
In such situations, the Clinic may consider the possibility of improving the result through Revision Surgery, subject to the terms of this Policy. Although good results are expected from cosmetic surgery, there are no guarantees or warranties regarding the outcome. Many factors beyond the Surgeon’s control can influence the results.
In some instances, Revision Surgery may be required, but this does not imply that the original Procedure was unsuccessful, performed negligently, or that a better result could have been achieved by another Surgeon. Perfection, perfect symmetry, perfectly smooth contours, absence of scars, or guaranteed weight loss or changes in clothing size following body contouring surgery cannot be assured and are not part of this Policy.
3. Factors Affecting Surgical Outcomes
There are numerous reasons why a surgical outcome may be less than ideal, including but not limited to:
- Poor healing ability – Some Patients do not heal as well as others, which may be related to smoking, poor diet, medications, genetics, or other health factors.
- Poor scar formation – Some Patients are prone to developing thick, raised, or keloid/hypertrophic scars, often due to genetics or skin type.
- Poor skin quality – This may affect Patients who are older, have experienced massive weight loss, have used long-term steroids, have sun-damaged skin, are smokers, or are women who have had multiple pregnancies.
- Negative environmental or lifestyle impacts – For example, excessive sun exposure, smoking, alcohol consumption, or use of narcotics.
- Weight gain, loss, fluctuation, or pregnancy after surgery – These can alter results over time.
- Effects of gravity and ageing – Natural processes that continue post-surgery.
- Poor blood circulation – This can lead to delayed wound healing and suboptimal scar formation.
- Obesity – This may complicate healing and outcomes.
- Failure to follow post-operative instructions – Such as not protecting the surgical site, failing to keep it clean, not wearing compression garments, resuming exercise too soon, or not using recommended topical treatments.
- Prior revision surgery – Repeated procedures on the same body area increase risks and may limit outcomes.
- Changes in Patient expectations – Requests for procedures to meet new or different expectations post-original Procedure.
- Other factors – including illness, injury, or natural body changes.
Where the results of the Procedure have, in the reasonable opinion of the Surgeon, been compromised by the Patient’s lifestyle choices, illness, natural ageing process, or failure to adhere fully to the Surgeon’s post-operative care instructions, recommendations, or advice, the Clinic shall not be obligated to provide Revision Surgery free of charge or at reduced rates. All decisions regarding eligibility for Revision Surgery under this Policy are at the sole discretion of the Clinic and the Surgeon.
4. Revision Request Process
- Patients must submit revision requests in writing to SRGN Clinic within 12 months of the date of their initial Procedure.
- Upon receipt of a valid request, SRGN Clinic will arrange a “Revision Surgery Consultation” with the original Surgeon (or a suitable alternative if the original Surgeon is unavailable) to discuss the Patient’s concerns and determine an appropriate action plan. This consultation may coincide with a routine follow-up appointment.
- Patients are required to attend the Revision Surgery Consultation in person. SRGN Clinic will not reimburse any travel, accommodation, or associated costs for follow-up consultations or Revision Surgery.
- If the Patient is unable to attend a scheduled Revision Surgery Consultation within 4 weeks of notifying SRGN Clinic, no alternative date will be offered, and the request will be considered closed. Only the Surgeon responsible for the original Procedure (or their designated replacement) is accountable for its outcome. If the original Surgeon is unavailable, the Clinic may not be able to secure another Surgeon willing to perform Revision Surgery at no cost or at reduced rates. In such cases, the Clinic reserves the right to review and determine the basis (if any) for any additional surgery, including the possibility of declining the request entirely.
5. Revision Surgery Consultation
During the Revision Surgery Consultation, the Surgeon will evaluate:
- Whether the Patient’s expectations were realistic at the time of the original Procedure.
- Whether the Patient’s current expectations for Revision Surgery are realistic.
- Whether adequate healing time has elapsed (a minimum of 6 months from the original Procedure is required before any Revision Surgery can be considered).
- Whether the outcome was influenced by surgical factors versus normal physiological or body changes.
- The Patient’s compliance with post-operative instructions.
The Surgeon will discuss the potential risks, benefits, and limitations of Revision Surgery, including whether it is clinically indicated and in the Patient’s best interests. Patients will be advised that Revision Surgery has inherent limitations, and the desired outcome may not be achievable. There are no guarantees or warranties regarding the results of Revision Surgery. The Surgeon and Clinic reserve the right to decline Revision Surgery if, in their professional opinion, the risks outweigh the potential benefits, if tissue quality is poor, or if the likelihood of a successful outcome is limited.
6. Fee Structure for Revision Procedures
6.1 Minor Revisions Under Local Anaesthetic
Clinic and Surgeon fees are typically waived for the following, provided they are deemed necessary and directly related to the original Procedure:
- Managing unavoidable acute complications (e.g., seroma, hematoma, skin necrosis, wound dehiscence, infection drainage) where surgical intervention is clinically indicated.
- Correction of “dog ears” (excess skin at scar line ends).
- Corticosteroid injections for hypertrophic scars.
- Excision of a suture sinus.
- Correction of “pixie ear” deformity following facelift.
- Correction of minor irregularities following liposuction.
- Correction of webbing following upper blepharoplasty.
- Excision of visible scar tissue following gynecomastia correction.
- Correction of a significant asymmetry solely caused by the original Procedure.
- Repair of acute relapse of results.
6.2 Scar Revision
Patients requesting surgical revision of stretched, thickened, or unsightly scars under local anaesthetic will be charged a Clinic fee of £500. The Surgeon’s fees will be determined at their discretion and quoted separately.
6.3 Administration Fee
Where Revision Surgery is provided primarily for reasons related to unmet expectations (rather than clinical complications), an additional administration fee of £25 will apply. All fees are subject to change at the Clinic's discretion and must be paid in full prior to any Revision Surgery. No refunds will be provided for Revision Surgery once scheduled or performed.
7. Timing and Scheduling
- Revision Surgery, if approved, must be performed within 3 months of the Revision Surgery Consultation date.
- If a Patient declines the initially offered date, an alternative date will be provided within the 3-month timeframe. If the second date is declined as well, no further dates will be offered, and the request will be closed.
8. Cancellations
8.1 Non-Medical Reasons
Patients who cancel their approved Revision Surgery within 2 weeks of the agreed date for non-medical reasons will not be offered an alternative date, and the request will be considered closed.
8.2 Medical Reasons
- Patients who cancel their approved Revision Surgery within 2 weeks of the agreed date for verifiable medical reasons must provide supporting evidence, such as a medical certificate, hospital admission or discharge letter, or a letter from a general practitioner (GP).
- In such cases, a new date will be offered within the next 3 months, subject to availability and the Clinic’s discretion.
9. Procedures Not Considered Revisions
The following are not considered Revision Surgery under this Policy and will be subject to standard Clinic fees:
- Redo fat grafting.
- Redo lipoedema or cosmetic liposuction due to dissatisfaction with the cosmetic result or perceived insufficient fat removal.
- Redo tummy tuck following pregnancy, weight gain, or subsequent development of loose skin.
- Removal of loose skin that develops weeks or months after body contouring surgery.
- Performing a procedure that was part of the original treatment plan but declined by the Patient on the day of the original Procedure.
- Any treatments recommended or performed by another practice or doctor (SRGN Clinic does not reimburse or cover such treatments).
10. General Provisions
SRGN Clinic reserves the right to apply, interpret, or amend this Policy on a case-by-case basis at its sole discretion. Agreement to this Policy does not revoke or limit the Patient’s statutory rights, nor does it guarantee eligibility for future treatments. This Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales (or the applicable jurisdiction where the Procedure was performed). Any disputes arising from this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction. Patients are advised to seek independent legal advice if they have any questions about this Policy. By proceeding with any Procedure at SRGN Clinic, the Patient acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Policy. This Policy is effective as of 1st March 2025 and may be updated from time to time. The latest version will be available on the SRGN Clinic website.
